این مجموعه تلاش می کند با فاصله گرفتن و نقد سنت های غلطی که بعضاً به نام اسلام بازتولید می شود و رویکردهای جدیدی که بر بستر مدرنیته روییده و ریشه در اندیشه های غیر الهی دارند، کلیه مباحث مرتبط با زنان و خانواده را تا حد توان پوشش دهد و در این راه، ضمن اصل قرار دادن اسلام ناب محمدی، از تجربه کلیه طیف ها و گروه های حامی حقوق زنان و دغدغه مندان حیات و هویت خانواده در ایران و جهان بهره ببرد.
وضعیت زنان در کشور ما اگرچه نسبت به گذشته، بسیار ارتقاء یافته، اما همچنان زنان در کلیه طیف ها و اقشار، گرفتار برخی تبعیض ها، بی عدالتی ها و مشکلات در خانواده و جامعه هستند که بخشی میراث گذشته و بخشی حاصل سبک و سیاق زندگی امروز است. این مشکلات در بعضی مناطق خاص کشور، به دلیل ریشه دار بودن سنت های غلط گذشته، شدت بیشتری دارد و اصلاح آن نیز مشکل تر و پیچیده تر است. از سوی دیگر کارکردهای خانواده به عنوان اساسی ترین رکن جامعه و مهد تربیت نسل جدید در سیر تحولات اجتماعی، دچار اختلالاتی شده و بر همه اعضای آن تاثیر گذارده است.
در حال حاضر گروه های مختلفی با رویکردهای متفاوت در کشور، دغدغه اصلاح وضعیت زنان و خانواده را دارند و در این راه تلاش می کنند، اما هیچکدام نتوانسته اند با یک نگاه جامع، کلیه زوایای مسئله را در مقام نظر، مورد توجه قرار دهند و بر اساس آن یک برنامه عمل متوازن طراحی و اجرا کنند. این البته طبیعت تکاملی دانش های بشری است که با تعمق، تجربه و گفتگوی حقیقی بین آراء مختلف پیش می رود.
پایگاه تحلیلی- خبری مهرخانه با این امید تاسیس شده است که بتواند ضمن واکاوی و بررسی مشکلات از زوایای مختلف، فضایی برای گفتگو و تضارب آراء، به دور از برچسب زنی و پیش داوری در این حوزه فراهم کند تا از این رهگذر، مسیرهای نو برای برون رفت از مشکلات، برای اهل اندیشه پدیدار شود.
