이 하느님이 만물을 그리스도 안에서 통일하고, 그를 통해 만민을 구속한다고 주장한다. 또한 독자들인 부모와 자녀들,
주인들과 노예들에게 그리스도인으로서 모범적인 생활을 하고,
악마의 책략에 대항하기 위해서 '믠음의 방패', '구원의 투구', '성령의 칼'(즉 하느님의 말씀)로 무장하라고 권고한다(6：16~17)
