تاريخ محمد علي سيرته وأعماله يعد «محمد علي باشا» مؤسس الدولة المصرية الحديثة، وأحد أبرز حكامها التاريخيين، يستعرض هذا الكتاب تاريخ محمد علي سيرته وأعماله في مصر وكذلك من ميلاده الي وفاته ويبدأ تاريخ مصر الحديث من فترة توليه حكم البلاد عام ١٨٠٥م، بناء على اختيار الشعب المصري له بعد أن أطاح بسلفه «خورشيد باشا»، وقد استطاع محمد علي رغم عدم حصوله على شهادات أكاديمية، ورغم كونه رجلًا غير عسكري أن يؤسس لمشروع نهضة شامل في كافة المجالات السياسية والاقتصادية والعسكرية والتعليمية، كما استطاع أن يتخلص من أعدائه السياسيين الممثَّلين في طبقة البكوات المماليك، وعَمَّق من مركزية الحكم، ونهض باقتصاد الدولة الزراعي، وأدخل النظم الإدارية والمالية الحديثة لمؤسسات الدولة، وقام بتحديث الجيش المصري، وأرسل البعثات العلمية إلى أوروبا.
