アニメの聖地、通称「日５ 」（にちご）枠で放送されます。
「日５ 」枠は、「日曜午後五」（にちようごごご）とも言い、コードギアス、機動戦士ガンダム00、鋼の錬金術師、七つの大罪 などの高視聴率アニメを放送しています。
「アルスラーン 戦記」は、田中芳樹による日本の大河ファン゠ジー小説で、19世紀のイランで書かれた『アミール・アルサラーネ・ナームダール（Amīr Arsalān-e nāmdār ）』（「名高き王 アルサラーン」の意）という英雄叙事詩をモチーフにしています。
英語表記では「ARSLAN」です。
漫画 は、 荒川弘（講談社「別冊少年マガジン」連載中です。
