《佛說四十二章經》，簡稱《四十二章經》，佛教著作，據說是東漢蠦葉摩騰、竺法蘭漢譯，一般認為是古代中國譯出的第一部佛教經典。內容是把佛所說的某一段話稱為一章，共選了四十二段話所編集而成。收在《大正藏》第十七冊。《四十二章經》論其勝義，蓋有四端：一、辭最簡馴，二、義最精富，三、臚者古真，四、傳最平易。用以上四重以觀察於佛，則佛之全體大用明。
