Ratib ini disusun bagi menunaikan permintaan salah seorang murid beliau, ‘Amir dari keluarga Bani Sa’d yang tinggal di sebuah kampung di Shibam, Hadhramaut. Tujuan ‘Amir membuat permintaan tersebut ialah bagi mengadakan suatu wirid dan zikir untuk amalan penduduk kampungnya agar mereka dapat mempertahan dan menyelamatkan diri daripada ajaran sesat yang sedang melanda Hadhramaut ketika itu.
