The app allows people located in Etowah County, Alabama to quickly search for the nearest shelter in the event of severe weather. The app will navigate the user to the closest shelter, filter shelter locations by pet allowance and handicap accessibility, and call the shelter using the "Make a call" button.
The app gathers information from www.sheltheretowah.com. The user can refresh the app to get the latest information about shelter availability.
The app was created by Jacksonville State University, in conjunction with the Etowah County Emergency Management Agency.
