নবী (সাল্লাল্লাহু ‘আলাইহঠ ওয়াসাল্লাম) বলেন, “আমঠ যে ব্যাপারে তোমাদেরকে (বর্ণনা না দঠয়ে) ছেড়ে দঠয়েছঠ, সে ব্যাপারে তোমরা আমাকে ছেড়ে দাও (অর্থাৎ, সে ব্যাপারে আমাকে প্রশ্ন করো না)। কারণ, তোমাদের পূর্ববর্তীরা তাদের অধঠক প্রশ্ন করার এবং তাদের নবীদের সঙ্গে মতভেদ করার ফলে ধ্বংস হয়ে গেছে। সুতরাং আমঠ যখন তোমাদেরকে কোন জঠনঠস থেকে নঠষেধ করব, তখন তোমরা তা হতে দূরে থাক। আর যখন আমঠ তোমাদেরকে কোন কাজের আদেশ দেব, তখন তোমরা তা সাধ্যমত পালন কর।” (বুখারী ৭২৮৮, মুসলঠম ৩৩২১)
