Die Oettinger Rockets sind eine professionelle Basketball-Mannschaft. Sie entstammen dem Trägerverein Basketball in Gotha (BiG) e. V. und werden über die BiG GmbH verwaltet. Durch den Verein blicken die Oettinger Rockets auf knapp 20 Jahre Basketball-Erfahrung im mittelthüringischen Raum zurück. Anfänglich noch in Schulsporthallen, tragen sie aktuell ihre Heimspiele in der Messe Erfurt aus. Von den untersten Amateur-Ligen haben sie es nun bis in die 2. Basketball-Bundesliga ProA geschafft - und sind längst nicht am Ziel! Im Jahr 2018 wollen die ambitionierten Basketballer in die höchste deutsche Spielklasse aufsteigen, die easyCredit BBL!
