Undang-Undang ini antara lain mengatur mengenai Pengadilan Pajak yang bersifat khusus menyangkut acara penyelenggaraan persidangan sengketa perpajakan yaitu: Penyelesaian sengketa perpajakan memerlukan tenaga-tenaga Hakim khusus yang mempunyai keahlian di bidang perpajakan dan berijazah Sarjana Hukum atau sarjana lain. Sengketa yang diproses dalam Pengadilan Pajak khusus menyangkut sengketa perpajakan. Putusan Pengadilan Pajak memuat penetapan besarnya Pajak terutang dari Wajib Pajak, berupa hitungan secara teknis perpajakan, sehingga Wajib Pajak langsung memperoleh kepastian hukum tentang besarnya Pajak terutang yang dikenakan kepadanya. Sebagai akibatnya jenis putusan Pengadilan Pajak, di samping jenis-jenis putusan yang umum diterapkan pada peradilan umum, juga berupa mengabulkan sebagian, mengabulkan seluruhnya, atau menambah jumlah Pajak yang masih harus dibayar. Sebagai konsekuensi dari kekhususan tersebut di atas, dalam Undang-undang ini diatur hukum acara tersendiri untuk menyelenggarakan Pengadilan Pajak.
Undang-Undang ini terdiri dari 6 Bab dan 98 Pasal beserta penjelasannya.
Undang-Undang ini mulai berlaku pada tanggal diundangkan yaitu 12 April 2002.
Dengan aplikasi ini kita akan dipermudah karena sudah ada menu yang menunjukkan topik per topik dari isi yang ada dalam UU ini.
