VeoGeo - Geocaching mit Android
Es gibt inzwischen so viele Geocaching-Apps für den Androiden, und jede hat ihre Stärken. Allerdings fand ich keine, die alle wichtigen Stärken in einer App kombiniert. Also probier ich es selber einmal. Folgendes war mir dabei wichtig:
* Offline-Vektorkarten (dank des MapsForge-Projekts kein Problem)
* Performanz
* keine politische Aussage (Groundspeak gut/böse-Diskussion)
* hervorragende Unterstützung vor allem bei meinen bevorzugten Cachetypen: langwierigen Multis / Mysterys.
Was es bisher gibt, ist nicht mehr als eine Machbarkeitsstudie (ist es performant möglich, mehr als 10.000 Caches in einer DB zu haben? Klappt das mit den MapsForge-Karten?). Es ist natürlich mehr ein Hobbyprojekt, aber ich war jetzt schon öfter damit im Feld und komme gut zurecht. Wenn es noch weitere Leute da draußen gibt, denen es gefällt, wäre das natürlich toll und Motivation.
Probiert's doch einfach mal aus. Ich freue mich über Rückmeldungen! Es fehlen sicher noch viele Funktionen - sagt mir einfach, was am dringendsten benötigt wird, damit ich eine Richtschnur habe, wo ich als erstes weitermachen soll.
Wichtig (um dem großen Frust gleich beim Start vorzubeugen): im Moment werden Groundspeak Pocket Queries benötigt, um Caches in die Anwendung zu bekommen. Ist also im Moment leider nur für Premium Member geeignet!
